Pearl Jam's third album. This one is even more experimental than their previous release vs. Although this album contains some excellent tracks such as Immortality, Betterman, and Tremor Christ, it fails to carry the emotion of the previous two releases, and it is widely viewed as Pearl Jam's weakest release. Two things helped to cause this decline in quality of the music, the first is lead singer Eddie Vedder. Not content in being one of the most critically acclaimed vocalists in the rock industry, Vedder decides to pick up the guitar for this album. The third guitar takes away from the raw  sound that Pearl Jam came to be famous for.  The second thing that caused a decline in quality was the band's desire to bring back the old sound. This album was recorded using analog equipment rather than digital equipment and is heard best on LP. An interesting sidenote is the fact that Pearl Jam won a grammy for the song Spin The Black Circle (In my opinion, one of the worst songs on the album).
